Daisy's News

In 2009 Daisy qualified for the Pony Club Championships in all 3 disciplines on two horses.

Also in 2009 she took part in British Eventing Pony Trials with Little Mickey Finn.
For those of you who don’Äôt know Little Mickey Finn he was a very difficult and highly strung pony when we bought him, verging on the dangerous. He was able to buck, rear and spine within milliseconds with very little warning often managing to deposit his jockey, a trick he had perfected! However, like many such horses, he is very talented.

In 2009 Daisy and Little Mickey Finn came 10th in the Championships at Brand Hall and were subsequently asked to compete for Great Britain at the 3 day event in Necarne, Northern Ireland. We all had a wonderful time in Ireland and Daisy and Little Mickey Finn came 2nd, best of the British squad. She was picked for the "A squad" for the Pony Europeans this year but sadly did not make the final team as GCSEs took over.

She went on to compete Little Mickey Finn over the summer and completed her first Intermediate at Aston Le Walls. They had an unfortunate run out but otherwise did really well with a great dressage and clear show jumping. They would have been in the top 5 without the run out. This was an amazing feat for a 14.2hh pony! They then went on to complete Blair 1* International 3 day event and came 21st out of 100 starters. They had to perform in a very atmospheric arena and the cross country was extremely challenging, so we were very proud of them both. Mickey Finn also won the Area Pony Club Open Show Jumping!

Her other horses have done very well too. Petal was 10th in her first novice and then went on to be 2nd at Skipton and 3rd at Aston Le Walls. Tulip Times came out for the first time at Skipton and won an Intro class. She then went on to win her first pre novice at Richmond.

All in all Daisy had a very successful summer and learnt a lot on the way. She spent time working for Helen Bell in the summer which gave Daisy such confidence riding a variety of horses under Helen’Äôs expert eye.   As well as this she had invaluable help from Gavin and Annabelle Scofield, Carol Brett and Vreni Booth. Finally, we have to say a big "thankyou" to Annelise Clements for taking us up to Blair Castle in her wonderful lorry!

What 2011 will bring nobody knows. What I do know is, we will continue to learn and enjoy our horses and do our best to help them enjoy their work. Daisy has a lot of rides next year with some very nice youngsters plus a beautiful horse that I was given with severe bolting problems that is nearly ready to compete. So everything is crossed for 2011...!!
